I like to keep my collage/assemblages “edgy,” often with three-dimensional elements and always with strong use of color and contrasting lights and darks, for dramatic effect. I love the challenge of experimenting with every new material and technique I can find, from hand-making papers to the mechanics of three-dimensional construction. My subjects range from semi-representational to totally abstract, but always with an emphasis on design.

Elaine Rath holds a degree in art education from Northern Illinois University and a masters degree in visual design from the Illinois Institute of Technology.  She taught secondary level art for 22 years and served on the Design Review Commission for the village of LaGrange, Illinois. She designed the entry monuments and street signs for the community of Golfview Hills, Hinsdale, Illinois.  Current memberships include the National Collage Society, the Midwest Collage Society, the DuPage Art League and the LaGrange Art League, serving as window design coordinator.
